Decent knives for the price. : Chicago Cutlery Walnut Signature Forged 12-Piece Knife Block Set
I spent a great deal of time learning about knives before I made this purchase. I am partial to Chicago Cutlery since that is what my mom has used for years. I needed a good all-around knife set that would give me the basics and that is exactly what I got from this purchase. They are sharp, and with the sharpening tool I can keep them that way. But do be ware, the handles are unfinished wood it is not a good idea to leave them sitting in a sink or in water. I knew this, and I liked the idea of the old fashioned wood handles, but they do require some upkeep. If you are planning on purchasing this set, also purchase a small bottle of mineral oil. The handles will need to be oiled after every use until they no longer feel as though they are splintery when you use them. This is NOT a manufacturing defect, but rather a byproduct of having the old fashioned wooden handles. If that is not what you are looking for do not buy this set. The block is well-made, and a great color. Only time will tell on the durability of this product, but so far so good.
